Impact of climate change
The consequences of climate change have an extensive influence on trees, and we are already seeing changes in the appearance of our forests. In this context, it is the task of climate impact research both to investigate the impact, i.e. the climate change-related risk status (vulnerability) of today's forest stands, and to identify the possibilities for adaptation to the unavoidable consequences of climate change. For long-term adaptation, the overall assessment of the suitability of tree species in times of climate change plays a key role, as it brings together numerous partial aspects such as climatic occurrence ranges, mortality risks or growth trends.
