Lynx and wolf
The Lynx & Wolf unit is responsible for the state-wide monitoring of the lynx and wolf, as well as officially advising livestock owners in Baden-Württemberg on herd protection. Accompanying scientific studies are dedicated to wildlife biology as well as social science issues associated with large predators such as the lynx, wolf and golden jackal (Canis aureus). The aim of the department’s activities is to provide a basis of solid scientific and objective data to accompany the sometimes highly emotional debate on the return of large carnivores. To this end, we implement measures that promote the transfer of knowledge to all population groups and encourage solution-oriented communication.
